PRECOGNITIVE STRATEGIES
Several step-by-step procedures have been designed specifically to stimulate precognitive awareness and promote
development of the precognitive faculty. The Future Screen is a meditative approach that emphasizes the role of
relaxation and imagery in exercising the precognitive faculty. The Doors Strategy emphasizes choice and
self-determination. For practice in perfecting these skills, the Precognitive Review offers an exercise in
envisioning future outcomes.
THE FUTURE SCREEN
Step 1 Physical Relaxation. With eyes closed, induce a physically relaxed state by slowing
your breathing while mentally scanning your body from the head down, and allowing all muscles to become loose and limp.
Step 2 Mental Passivity. Clear your mind of all active thought. Allow a serene, passive mental state
to emerge slowly.
Step 3 Mental Screen. Envision a blank screen upon which scenes of the future can be projected.
At this stage, focus only on the blank screen.
Step 4 Spontaneous Future Imagery. Allow scenes from the future to appear spontaneously on the
screen. Allow adequate time for meaningful images to form.
Step 5 Selected Imagery. To assume control over the future, generate images of desired
developments or outcomes. Deliberately project them as clearly as possible upon the screen as images of the future.
Step 6 Empowering Affirmations. Conclude the procedure with positive affirmations that your
precognitive powers are liberated and free to probe the future.
THE DOORS PROCEDURE
Step 1 While in a relaxed, tranquil state, envision a wall with many doors and the word "future"
boldly inscribed on the wall. Imagine doors of many colors and materials: gold, steel, wood, glass, silver, brass,
and jade. Picture a word representing the future inscribed on each door: career, finances, relationships, family, and
health; or more deeply personal inscriptions such as the names of people. They can be national or global in nature.
Allow one door to remain without an inscription.
Step 2 Select a door and envision yourself opening it. Allow a panoramic view of the future to emerge.
You may choose to step through the door and become an active participant in the unfolding events of the future.
Step 3 Select other doors and open them at will. The non-inscribed door is reserved for accessing
information about the future concerning non-specified topics. The non-inscribed door is used to reveal future events
such as natural catastrophes, political developments, and international incidents.
Step 4 Conclude the procedure with affirmations of your power to use precognitive knowledge
responsibly to influence the future or to effectively accommodate unalterable future events.
PRECOGNITIVE REVIEW
Step 1 Identify a situation for which precognitive information would be useful.
Step 2 Realistically envision the prevailing situation, giving attention to specific details.
Step 3 Mentally enumerate the potential outcomes of the present situation. Identify as many
alternatives as possible.
Step 4 Review the potential outcomes, turning them over one by one in your mind. Permit other
outcomes to unfold mentally. Allow the process to continue until one outcome emerges as the strongest or most probable.
Step 5 Following a brief rest period in which the mind is cleared, repeat steps three and four,
giving particular attention to any confirmation of the previous results.
Step 6 Continue the review process until a clear impression of the future unfolds. Document the
results.
Aside from its usefulness as a practice exercise, Precognitive Review has been effective in generating
awareness of specific future events related to a wide range of prevailing problems or conditions. Concerns regarding
the future of personal relationships seem particularly appropriate for this procedure. College students have found
this exercise useful as a source of information about graduate schools they will attend, geographic locations of
their future employment, and career specialties they will pursue. It should be emphasized that Precognitive Review
does not determine the future; it instead identifies the most probable future developments while, at the same time
exercising the mind's precognitive mechanisms. Personal choice remains the major force shaping most future events.
SUMMARY
Precognition, whether spontaneous or induced, is consistently empowerment driven. In its spontaneous form,
precognition is a reflection of our native capacity to experience the future independently of sensory input. In its
induced form, precognition is an acquired skill developed through experience and practice of certain procedures and
techniques. Through our precognitive skills, we can open many exciting doors into the future. Some of those doors may
open upon destiny to reveal events that cannot be changed; but others will open upon possibilities and reveal
strategies that can alter the future. Whatever the nature of the precognitive door, to be informed is to be empowered
to plan, to avert, and to change.
Precognitive awareness empowers us to engage the present with enthusiasm, confident in our ability to shape the
future and achieve our highest goals.
