Juno (or Hera) was the wife of Jupiter (Zeus) and the patron goddess of
marriage. She seems to operate quite well as a key to marriage, one’s
spouse, and the relationship itself. Ken Negus noted he has also observed
her as a literal key to the marriage license. Juno and Jupiter had a rather
poor relationship and Juno can be a key to abuse, power struggles in
relationships, manipulation, abandonment fears, infidelity and loyalty
issues. She is often in the picture when sexual issues or questions of
shared resources (money, possessions...) come up. She seems to have a strong
connection to Scorpio’s intense emotions and intimate domains, although Juno
can also indicate artistic talents and abilities (so perhaps a little Libra
as well).
One student who has dealt with several families in which child sexual abuse
is common sees a prominent Juno (on angles, personal planets, strong
aspects) among the horoscopes.
Jimmy Carter has Juno rising in 1st house, conjunct Saturn (working
partnership - which he and Rosalyn have always had).
Several clients who are strongly involved with the arts (some
professionally) have Juno conjunct Ascendant, Venus, or Sun.
One gentleman had Juno conjunct his Midheaven exactly. He was a very
successful movie producer (the artistic connection), but had major
challenges in his partnerships - both marriages and business partnerships.
(The issues revolved around power, control, authority questions.)
In synastry, Juno contacts (especially with Venus, Sun, Moon, Juno itself or
Ascendant/Descendant) can indicate strong attraction. Sometimes those "hits"
help to explain a relationship that doesn't "make sense" in most other ways
(very different ages, background, etc.).
In 1945 and 1946, Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron (all of which may yearn for
more than is possible, seek the ideal) were in Libra. Juno was there as well
from late 1945 into 1946. People born then have extra strong issues around
expectations in relationships, where they seek meaning, how much they
idealize partners, partnership, or sharing. Their challenge is to see the
best, share dreams, without expecting partners to provide Heaven on Earth - or
trying to be all to (rescue, save) a partner/spouse.
I hope that this brief glimpse into the world of asteroids has tempted you
to at least "put them in" your charts. When they are prominent, you’ll be
really glad you have them there!
