Say what you want
by Joyce Sequichie Hifler
Just a few words can make such a difference. No matter where we see them, they come back to us at certain times. A particular one said, "Don't let the so and so's whip you."
How often the so and so's are little troubles that seem to tag a person around to cause irritation. The battle begins in the mind and spirit before it ever shows up in the natural. But we can do our main fighting up front where the first thought forms, where the first negative suggestion takes hold.
Negative situations know how to reel us in. The first tactic is to throw out a hook baited with sympathy. If self-pity ever gets its teeth in, the hook is set. Consider the choices early -- whether to take the super-subtle bait or to stand firm. Be wise and quick to recognize the hidden danger in words that cut and hurt. Turn them back and refuse to let them get into your consciousness. Keep on saying what you want -- and you will have what you say.
